Sara Shuman brings a balance of technical and aesthetic experience to any interactive design project.

Her digital imaging career began in 1984 when she convinced her boss at a small design firm that they needed to get this thing called a "Mac". Twenty (plus!) years later, Sara's creative acumen is balanced by an intimate understanding of the technology that drives modern interface design.

Working her way up the ranks as a computer production artist, she moved to Los Angeles in 1991 from her island home of St. Croix in the Caribbean. Joining the prestigious design firm, The Designory, Sara gained world-class experience as a graphic artist, working on award winning promotional marketing media for such clients as Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Oldsmobile and Isuzu.

In 1996, she traded in atoms for bits and joined Hollywood.com as the Senior Interactive Media Designer. Her work at Hollywood.com included the design and architecture of dozens of motion picture websites, leading to her appointment as Creative Director.

Sara led the team of designers and developers that created high profile projects including 3 Academy Award sites, live video coverage from the Hollywood premieres, Showtimes, and a real-time database movie theatre locator. Stretching beyond the limits of the PC, she also designed Palm and Nino PDA application interfaces for show times.

One of her major successes at Hollywood.com was her creation of the "Golden Hitch" Trailer Awards. Her vision included forming a prestigious list of film, trailerhouse and television executives, movie critics, and entertainment personalities to serve on the Nominating Committee, and then allow the online users to vote for the winners.

In 1999, Sara joined getacard.com as Creative Director and launched one of the first online sites to sell personalized greeting, by mail.

After taking some time to get married in 2000, and then have a beautiful girl Katie Rose in 2001, she stayed at home and freelanced for a variety of clients, like Quiksilver, Roxy, Disney, Lexus (Team One), Powerbar (Nestle), Library of Congress, for over nine years. She also served on the Board of Directors as the Creative Director for the Pacific Palisades Jr. Women's Club and has helped raise over $500,000 for various local charity organizations.

Sara is currently working full time as the Senior Interactive Web Designer for Sun Microsystems and is responsible for a broad set of needs: from large scale design work, strategic work, to production-oriented image projects.

Sara attended William Woods College in Missouri, as a fine arts / computer science major on an equestrian science scholarship.
